South African project wins global conservation award

South Africa’s Litterboom Project has been named a winner in the first Defender Awards, an international programme recognising environmental and community initiatives. Working along several rivers in KwaZulu-Natal, the project intercepts plastic waste before it flows into the sea. The recognition highlights a locally developed response to pollution and brings international attention to South African conservation efforts.
